2010-11

Seaford Town 3-1 Clymping

First effort on Clymping's goal came after only 5 minutes when a great thru' ball from James Mckenzie set Tyler Goatcher away, only to be ruled offside.

On 25 minutes Ryan Knights short back pass produced a great save from Jake Buss at the feet of the Clymping attacker.A long goal kick from Buss and a great flick from Lee Walsh put Goatcher thru' on goal but he shot wide. Seaford had the ball in the net when Lee Walsh bundled the ball over the line but the referere gave a free kick.

Seaford continued to press and the Clymping Keeper fumbled a freekick but redeemed himself by touching the ball over the bar.

A good cross from Tom Morton to Goatcher was only prevented from going in by a great saving tackle from a Clymping defender.

Seaford got to the half time break wondering how they weren't at least 2 goals to the good but also relieved that they hadn't conseeded.

A cross come shot from Towns Rafa Ciupinski started the 2nd half in the best possible way as Seaford took the lead on 46 minutes.

Then on the hour Seaford increased their lead when Lee walsh tapped in after Steve Dallaway on for Mckenzie pulled the ball back from the goal line. Kevin Budge then missed an open goal for Clymping.

Seaford gave away a freekick 40 yards out and up stepped Tom Barnes who floated over the kick. It missed everybody and ended up in the back of the Seaford net to bring Clymping back into the game and ensure a nervie last 10 minutes for what was now a crowd geeting near the 100 mark.

Tyler Goatcher put the game beyond Clymping in the dying moments making the final score 3-1 to what seems to be a much improved disciplined Seaford side as once again Seaford picked up no bookings.

With results going their way Seaford have taken top spot in the league. Yes it's very early days but with 4 home games in a row starting with Little Common on Tuesday evening 7 30 kick off Seaford will be hoping to build a good lead at the top of the table.

Mile Oak 2-3 Seaford Town
Wednesday 11th August
Mile Oak v Seaford Town
Sussex County League Division Two
at Mile Oak Recreation Ground, Chalky Road, Portslade
Kick off 7.15 pm

Following on from Saturday's 0-0 opening day draw at Worthing United, we face another tough game at Mile Oak.

The Oakers were relegated from Division One at the end of the last campaign, but they are always a difficult side to beat, especially on their own patch. They have a very strong loyalty base with a number of their players having several hundred appearances for the team, something most sides can only dream of. And if you are going to the game you may get to hear their very vocal support as well!!!

Mile Oak lost their opening game of the season 2-3 at home to Loxwood, who will surely be prominent at the top of the table this season.

Worthing United 0-0 Seaford Town
Saturday 7th August 2010
Sussex County League – Division Two

The much awaited start to the new football season arrived on Saturday, with the new look Seaford Town side making the journey west to face a difficult opening fixture against Worthing United.

Much had been made during pre-season of the influx of new blood brought in by new manager Tony Coade, with only 2 of last season’s squad involved in this game, Ryan Knight who has been very impressive during the friendly matches and Ben Lee, another to impress the new management.

Into the side have come a clutch of former Eastbourne United stars including Danny Andrews, Steve Dallaway, Lee Walsh and Tom Morton, together with Jake Buss from Peacehaven and Josh Clayman from Shoreham and much is expected from them.

It was the home side who had the better of the opening half, with Buss being the far busier of the two goalkeepers, keeping his side on level terms with a couple of superb close range saves but Town could have taken a 12th minute lead from a quick break.

Ryan Knight had been unceremoniously upended as he cleared his lines, but the referee waved play on as the ball broke to Town’s advantage and Dallaway’s fierce drive was deflected for a corner.

A long goal kick caused the Town back line a few problems as it was headed on by Gavin Jones, but Buss was alert to the danger to pull off a fine point blank save to deny Jehan Huet, then a few minutes later he was in action again, this time to deny Julian Curnow on the line.

Andrews was working overtime in midfield and he made a surging run from inside his own area, evading a number of challenges before seeing his shot blocked on the edge of the other area.

Town hadn’t really got started playing against the wind, but after the interval they began to take control and early in the half Walsh shot over after Andrews played him in.

Dallaway was getting more involved and his pace was causing a few problems for the home side, but they had to be careful not to be caught on the break and had Breach to thank for keeping the game goalless with a header off their line.

The introduction of Lee and James McKenzie with ½ hour to go gave them more impetus and one run from deep by Lee found McKenzie at the far post, but he was denied twice by Billy Rayner on his own line. The first from a shot then a header from the rebound was hacked clear.

It was the best opportunity of the game and also to be the last with a draw probably being a fair result in the end.

Team: Buss, Breach, Ciupinksi (Lee), Stevens, Haffenden, Knight, Andrews, Morton, Dallaway, Walsh (Goatcher), Clayman (McKenzie)

Man of the Match – Jake Buss (Important saves at important times)
